Model validity
In the INR Model framework, model validity refers to the extent to which the model is applied in accordance with its own principles.
A model remains valid only as long as it is used as intended. As soon as the application deviates from the underlying principles, the model loses its explanatory power.
Deepening
Many models are evaluated for effectiveness. INR first evaluates itself for consistency.
Model validity within INR means that:
– Behavior is explained and not guided.
– Meaning is being investigated and not corrected
Insight is shared and not used as a tool for power
When the model is used instrumentally, not only the application changes, but also the nature of the model.
It then shifts from a framework of explanation to a strategy of influence.
That is not nuance. That is a fundamental break with the architecture of Inner Needs, Narrative, and Reaction.
Model validity is therefore not a technical criterion, but a substantive condition.
Without ethical boundaries, the terminology remains intact, but the model loses its coherence.
Relationship to INR
Within the INR Model framework, ethics is not an addition but a prerequisite for the model's validity.
The model is built around:
– Autonomy
Competence
– Connectedness
Protection
Meaning
When the application undermines these principles, the model no longer functions within its own logic.
Model validity ensures that:
Inner Needs should not be used as a tool for pressure.
Narrative is not reduced to faulty thinking
– Reaction is not fought but understood
The concept of model validity explicitly states that consistency between content and use is essential.
Once that consistency is lost, the name INR will remain, but the model as it was intended will no longer exist.
